Samsung Galaxy S22 - Leaks and Rumours
The announcement of any new phone launch is always met with much anticipation. And as we approach 2022, all everyone is talking about is the Samsung Galaxy S22, which means the rumour mill is already running wild. Like its predecessors, the Galaxy S22 range is expected to come in three variants: an entry-level Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. Each variant will attempt to outdo its counterpart in the Galaxy S21 range, but Samsung will also be looking to better the iPhone 13 range. Besides, with the cancellation of the Samsung Galaxy Note 21, the S22 range will need to fill this gap and is expected to be the next-gen “Note” device. So, what should you expect from the tech titan’s next flagship phone and if you should wait for it or buy a Samsung refurbished phone right now?? Here are all the leaks, tips, and rumours we’ve gathered so far to give you a sneak peek into what Samsung has in store for us with the Samsung Galaxy S22 range.
Release Date
Samsung is yet to confirm when it will release the S22 range. But if history is anything to go by, the phones are likely to hit the shelves anywhere between January and February 2022. Several sources corroborate this speculation. According to tipster Jon Posser, who has a very reliable track record given his accurate prediction of the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus launch this year, the S22 series is likely to be released on February 8th, 2022. This is intended to pave the way for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G at CES 2022, set in January.
Price
Not much is known about the Galaxy S22 price as of yet. Well, at least there aren’t any credible leaks yet. Odds are, Samsung might decide to retain the same price point as their predecessors, whose starting price was about AU$1,249. But if the phone comes with some major upgrades, then we could see the prices hike. Most predictions, however, hint at the latter. A tweet by tipster TheGalox suggests a $100 bump in price across the board. Well, we can only wait for an official price announcement.
Design
There are plenty of leaks on the Galaxy S22 design. Based on leaked designs, the entry-level Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Pro will feature the same design as their predecessor. However, they will reportedly have smaller dimensions but an improved rear camera bump. That’s according to leaks from Onleaks in collaboration with Zouton. Of course, the best will be reserved for the S22 Ultra. Leaked renders hint at a massive design change to make this phone the ultimate Note replacement. That said, it will supposedly have a more angular design to fit the Note bar. That said, the biggest change expected is the addition of S-pen support, which has traditionally been seen in the Note range.
For the colour option, the S22 and S22 Plus might come in black, rose gold, white, and green shades. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, on the other hand, may come in dark red, green, white, and of course, black.
Display
Samsung phones are known for their exquisite displays, and we can expect nothing less from the Galaxy S22. One report suggests that this range is likely to feature slightly smaller display sizes. The base S22 is expected to shrink to 6.06-inches down from the S21’s 6.2-inches. Likewise, the S22 Plus will reportedly shrink down from 6.7-inches to 6.55-inches. As is tradition, the Ultra iteration will feature the largest display, standing at 6.81-inches. All three devices are rumoured to feature a 120Hz refresh rate, just like the S21 lineup. However, the resolutions are likely to differ, with the S22 and S22 Plus expected to come with a Full HD+ resolution and a QHG+ resolution for the Ultra. There are rumours of slimmer bezels across the range as well.
Camera
When it comes to the camera, the Samsung Galaxy S22 5G and S22 Plus will reportedly come with a triple-camera configuration. This will include a 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and 12-megapixel telephoto cameras. For the S22-Ultra, Samsung might up the camera system to a quad-lens setup, featuring a 108-megapixel camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, plus 10-megapixel 3X telephoto and 10-megapixel 10X telephoto lenses.
Processor and Battery
Since the launch of the Samsung S-series lineup, Samsung has been launching these phones with two different processors depending on the region, that is, Qualcomm Snapdragon and its very own Exynos chips. We can expect the company to stick to this trend. However, it will likely upgrade the range with the next generation of both chips.
Most reports suggest that the S22 range will sport smaller batteries. Speculations point to a 3,700mAh battery for the S22, a 4,500mAh in the s22 Plus, and an impressive 5,000mAh for the S22 Ultra. But on the positive side, the rumour mill indicates that Samsung could be upping the lineup with 65-watt charging. This would translate to much faster charging times compared to the predecessors.
Wrapping up
Well, these might just be speculations. But they definitely give you a better picture of what the Galaxy S22 range will have to offer. If you like what you have read so far, and you are all about flagship phones, maybe it’s about time you start saving up to bag yourself one of the phones in the range.
