Samsung Galaxy S8 Series - Refurbished Budget King!
The Samsung Galaxy S8 was one of the earliest phones to push the envelope in shrinking bezels. It came out in early 2017 and even to this day it's not hard to call this a good-looking phone. But even with a gorgeous display and still decent hardware, the phone is four years old and already two versions behind when it comes to Android Support. The refurbished Samsung S8 and the S8 Plus don't feel their age and yet they kind of do. How do they hold up in 2023 and is a refurbished Samsung even worth buying? We'll be revisiting the refurbished Samsung S8 series, discuss some of the features and let you know how it holds up in 2023.
Overview
On the surface, just like all Samsung Refurbished Phones, it is fantastic and it feels amazing in the hands. It looks even better especially from the front with admittedly older hardware that does still manage to hold its own. It has Android 9 and One UI on top of it from Samsung. The hardware is still pretty decent, and all in all, it’s pretty thin and feels light which makes it comfortable to hold and use. The glass back also allows for wireless charging and of course, fast charging also is an option.
The display does look fantastic even now. Both the base and the Plus variant have a glass back, aluminium frame and a fingerprint sensor beside the single camera lens. The phone also looks excellent from the back.
Display
Both the variants are equipped with AMOLED Infinity displays. The Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch screen with a resolution of 2960x1440 making for a pixel density of 570 pixels per inch the s8 plus on the other hand, boasts a 6.2-inch screen with the same resolution although because the phone is bigger it does mean a lower pixel per inch density of 529. That's still an insane number and while the smaller S8 is technically a bit sharper there's no way you would notice any difference in day-to-day use. The screens have the prestigious title of infinity display because the screen kind of curves over the edges which gives the impression of little to no side bezel and in my opinion it is super aesthetically pleasing.
Security & Other Features
There are other biometrics ways to get into the Samsung S8 such as Iris scanning and basic facial recognition if you'd prefer to use those. It also has IP68 water and dust resistance, along with this they also have a MicroSD slot. On the bottom of the phone, we get USB type C as well as the headphone jack, a commodity no longer being included on the newer generation of Galaxy phones. Despite Samsung being one of the last companies to hang on to it.
The S8 has a 12-megapixel camera on the back that can shoot great photos with good lighting, you can get some nice shots even in low lighting conditions. It can also record videos in up to 4k at 30 frames per second which is pretty standard for newer phones. Looking at the front camera, we get a healthy count of 8 megapixels and selfies are pretty great too.
Battery & Performance
We have talked about the battery a bit but let's look at the specifics, the S8 and S8 plus have 3000 and 3500 milliamp hour batteries respectively and both phones should be able to get you the day at least.
Both the S8 and the S8 Plus are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, although the chipset is a few generations old, it is still able to hold its own and performs like a beast. They can hold any task you throw at it.
Wrapping Up
The Samsung Galaxy S8 64gb in Australia has got it all, from the Infinity display to a headphone jack. If you are in the market looking for an Android phone, going for a refurbished Samsung S8 or an S8 Plus would be a good bet, just keep in mind that you're not going to have some of the newer features and software you get with a newer model but it's cheap and a refurbished one is worth it.
